Held from June 26 to 30, 2026, in Manila, Philippines, the 4th Assembly of the Asia Delegation of the Missionary Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo – Scalabrinians brought together Sisters from the Philippines, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Taiwan for a time of prayer, discernment, evaluation, and mission planning for the region. The Assembly was attended by the Superior General, Sr. Luiza Dal Moro, and the General Councillor for Apostolate, Sr. Myrna Tordillo.
Inspired by the theme “Journeying with Migrants and Refugees in Asia” and lived in a synodal spirit, the Assembly fostered moments of listening, dialogue, and reflection on the challenges of human mobility across the continent. At the conclusion of the gathering, the new Leadership Team of the Asia Delegation for the 2026–2028 term was also announced, reaffirming the Congregation’s commitment to collaborative leadership and to its mission of welcoming, protecting, promoting, and integrating migrants and people on the move.

Third and Fourth day of the Assembly in Asia
The 4th Assembly of the Scalabrinian Sisters in Asia continued its program with two days dedicated to reflecting on collaborative leadership, governance, and the strengthening of synodal life within the Congregation.
Inspired by the theme, “Journeying Together as One: Accountable and Collaborative Leadership,” the participants deepened their understanding of the Sulong-Padayon – Synod Implementation Framework, reflecting on paths of conversion, commitment, and the renewal of the mission.
Throughout the meetings, the Sisters took part in moments of dialogue, listening, and discernment through the Conversation in the Spirit methodology, identifying priorities for the coming years in the light of the Chapter Directives. They also reflected on the mission in the Asian Region, recognizing its achievements, challenges, and opportunities to strengthen their service to migrants.
The program also highlighted the five characteristics of a Synodal Church: inclusive participation, listening and accompaniment, formation for conversion and mission, accountable and collaborative leadership, and partnership and outreach. The gathering reaffirmed the Scalabrinian Sisters’ commitment to journey together, strengthening communion and shared responsibility in their mission to accompany people on the move.















Second day of the Assembly in Asia
On the second day of the Assembly in Asia, Saturday, June 27,2026 at 6;30 in the morning the sisters were gathered together in the chapel to pray the Lauds. Then, at 8:00 AM the sisters participated the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Rev. Fr. Paulo Prigol, CS – Vicar Provincial of the Scalabrinians in Asia-Australia province. In his homily he highlighted the motto in this 4th Assembly in Asia “Journeying with the Migrants and refugees” Besides, he gives 3 points to ponder upon by the sisters:
1.Enjoying the presence of one another as we gather together in this assembly.
- See the challenges in Asia and make the Planning for the mission
- How do we help the migrants? What did the sisters do? He emphasized that as Scalabrinian sisters need to bring the torch to help the migrants and refugees. Thus, Fidelity to God and to the mission is very essential.
Then, first session started at 9: 10 AM with a prayer, presenting a music video on the Holy Spirit. I t was facilitated by the Ms. Adeli Gutierrez from the Bukal ng Tipan Organization.
Then, it was followed with the topic: Synod on Synodality; Synodality Implementation Framework (Session and reflection) by Dr. Rita Cusio.
She explains well the 3 elements on Synodality: Communion, Participation and Misson. Each baptized person is engaged in the mission. However, it affects on how we lead and interact with the sisters in the congregation particularly in a community. Then, the facilitator Adeli explains the Sulong Padayon-Synod Implementation Framework. Our Planning Framework invites us to listen carefully to each other. In the afternoon session, Dr. Rita gave a recap of what happened in the morning then she proceeds to the different characteristics of a Synodal church with a group workshop. In the evening at 7:30 PM Sr. Myrna Tordillo (General Coordinator on Apostolate) with Sr. Maruja Padre Juan (Director of the Foreign students in Adamson University explain the General Directives on Apostolate. The first day was filled with enthusiasm and it was ended with an enriching take out after listening and sharing the results of each group. Deo gratias!
